Successfully Heating Retaining Rings for Winding Repairs

When there is a bow exceeding allowable run outs on a turbine rotor, it can be heated while rotating to help alleviate the stresses and remove the bow. Careful monitoring of the process temperatures is key and having a certified record of that heat treatment is imperative.
Thermo International offers our Remote Temperature Recorder for this use. Each standard unit is 36 points and runs on a battery. The transmitter sends the temperatures to a receiver and laptop computer to gather the data and serves as the permanent
record of the heat treatment process.
